2026 Applications are now open

About

Each year the LCWE awards a $2,000 scholarships to six(6) local high school students that have demonstrated skills in leadership, community involvement, and academic success. Last year we added two new scholarships of $1,000 each. One for a current college student and one for an adult wanting to pursue or continue their education. The scholarship is open to any Latino, Latina, Latinx, or Hispanic in Tippecanoe County and surrounding areas that plan to pursue their education.

eligibility (2026)

To be considered for this award students must meet all requirements listed below and must complete this application, which includes uploading a 600-700 word essay addressing both of the following prompts: Why is pursuing an education important to you? and As someone from the Latino/Hispanic community, how do you hope to create a positive impact in your community??

Scholarship Application Deadline: Friday, May 15th, 2026

*If selected for an interview, Interview Day will be Saturday, May 30th, 2026*

Requirements for High School Students*:

  • Must be a current high school senior graduating in Spring 2026

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Must currently attend high school in Tippecanoe County or within a 30 mile radius of Tippecanoe County

  • Must be planning to attend college, university, or trade school in 2026- 2027 academic year

  • Must be available to attend the 2026 Tippecanoe Latino Festival (September 12, 2026)

  • Submit one letter of recommendation (from a teacher, mentor, community member, etc.) to education@lcwelafayette.com before the day of the interview

Requirements for College Students*:

  • Must be a current college student that resides or graduated from a high school in Tippecanoe County or within a 30 mile radius of Tippecanoe County

  • Must be able to provide transcripts

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Must be available to attend the 2026 Tippecanoe Latino Festival (September 12, 2026)

  • Submit one letter of recommendation (from a professor, mentor, community member, etc.) to education@lcwelafayette.com before the day of the interview

Requirements for Continuing Education*:

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Must show proof of enrollment

  • Must resides in Tippecanoe County or within a 30 mile radius of Tippecanoe County

  • Must be available to attend the 2026 Tippecanoe Latino Festival (September 12, 2026)

  • Submit one letter of recommendation (from an employer, mentor, professor, community member, etc.) to education@lcwelafayette.com before the day of the interview
